​Barbara Claire Freeman received the 2008 Discovery/Boston Review Poetry Award and the 2007 Campbell Corner Poetry Prize. She is the author of The Feminine Sublime: Gender and Excess in Women’s Fiction (University of California), and teaches creative writing for the Department of Rhetoric at the University of California, Berkeley.


A Public Space is an independent, non-profit publisher of the award-winning literary and arts magazine; and A Public Space Books. Since 2006, under the direction of founding editor Brigid Hughes the mission of A Public Space has been to seek out and support overlooked and unclassifiable work.
