Submissions

A Public Space welcomes submissions of fiction, essays, translations, and poetry; as well as non-categorizable work that experiments with genre and form.

The magazine has several open reading periods throughout the year on Submittable.

A Public Space Fellowships

A Public Space offers three Writing Fellowships annually to fiction, nonfiction, and poetry writers who have not yet published a book-length work. Fellows are selected through an open application. Read about the 2025 Writing Fellows here. Applications for the 2026 Writing Fellowships will open in March.

A Public Space offers an Editorial Fellowship annually to aspiring editors. Fellows are selected through an open application each winter. More information about the Editorial Fellowship program is available here. You can read about the 2025 Editorial Fellows here.
