Yiyun Li: Writing About Ourselves

Award-winning author and contributing editor to A Public Space Yiyun Li joins A Public Space Academy for a three-hour Master Class on autobiographical writing.
This intensive, three-hour course will ask: What compels us to write about ourselves? What drives us to read about the lives of others? It will examine different approaches to writing about the people, places, and events that have made us who and how we are; and gather assets of writerly tools to write about our experiences and our perceptions of the world around us.

Yiyun Li
is the author of five books, most recently the essay collection Dear Friend, from My Life I Write to You in Your Life. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, the Guardian First Book Award, the PEN/Hemingway Award, and a MacArthur Fellowship. She is a professor of creative writing at Princeton University.
