Santos, and Laura Spence-Ash for a conversation on how reading together changed how they write alone, from new craft lessons learned to old ones renewed, moderated by Megan Cummins.

This is an official 2021 Brooklyn Book Festival Bookends event.

Tolstoy Together was inspired by the virtual book club Yiyun Li hosted with A Public Space to read War and Peace. Her daily reading journal appears in the book, alongside commentary from hundreds of fellow readers, including Garth Greenwell, Amitava Kumar, Sara Majka, Tom Drury, Alexandra Schwartz, Carl Phillips, and others.


Annie Liontas

Zulma Ortiz-Fuentes

is a writer and former New York City public school English teacher.

Richard Z. Santos

is the author of Trust Me (Arté Publico).

Laura Spence-Ash
