Sigmund Freud and the Birth of Psychoanalysis
September 30 – October 21 | 6:30 PM A Public Space, 323 Dean Street, Brooklyn, NY 11217
Join The Brooklyn Institute for Social Research for Sigmund Freud and the Birth of Psychoanalysis, a four-week course led by Loren Dent. Through close examination of Freud's writings, students will explore themes including: dissociation and repression, trauma and fantasy; the tensions between biology and mental conflict and between hereditary degeneracy and family dynamics; and, perhaps most controversially both then and now, Freud’s insistence on the primacy of sexuality in human development and behavior. For more information and registration, see the Brooklyn Institute's course listing.
