Jamel Brinkley

May
15

Tuesday, May 15 | 7 PM Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, 126 Crosby Street, New York, NY 10012

A Public Space debut author Jamel Brinkley launches A Lucky Man (APS/Graywolf) at Housing Works Bookstore with Angela Flournoy and friends.

The nine expansive, searching stories in A Lucky Man reflect the tenderness and vulnerability of black men whose hopes sometimes betray them. Brinkley's work first appeared in A Public Space, in No. 21 and No. 22; and you can read Victor LaValle's feature on the title story here. A Lucky Man is the #1 pick on the Indie Next list for May 2018.

For more information, visit the Housing Works event page.

Jamel Brinkley's

fiction has been selected for Best American Short Stories 2018. He is a 2018-2020 Wallace Stegner Fellow in Fiction at Stanford University.
