2017 AWP Conference

Feb
8

Wednesday, February 8 - Saturday, February 11 Washington Convention Center, 801 Mt Vernon Pl NW, Washington, D.C. 20001

Visit A Public Space editors at the book fair, and join us for two panels:

Surprise Us: A statement often seen in submission guidelines. What does it mean? How do editors of magazines look for surprises, whether it’s a surprising fit to an existing aesthetic or a surprise that breaks the aesthetic? APS managing editor Megan Cummins moderates a panel discussion with Nick Fuller Googins, Thais Miller, Safia Jama, and Robert James Russell.

Expanding the Canon: What role does the magazine or book publisher play in expanding the canon? How do we seek out great writing by authors whose work has been forgotten or ignored? APS Editor Brigid Hughes moderates a conversation with writers, editors, and publishers who have been involved in highlighting work from the archives of overlooked artists. With Kevin Prufer, Lisa Pearson, and Kendra Sullivan.
