This class has already happened.
We are encouraged to see craft as external, a set of learned artistic tools, but the strongest works of literature are unmistakably connected to an ability to visualize our “inner craft”—a technique that brings our writing closest to our own unique and energizing art. This April, join the longtime director of Northwestern University’s creative-writing program, Reginald Gibbons, for a rejuvenating Master Class. From Amy Hempel’s sentences to Venus Khoury-Ghata’s poems to ancient Greek epigrams—we will discuss examples and explore how writers draw from what they live, from the culture in which they are formed, from language itself. Together, we will examine ways to refine our “inner craft” and practice methods to deepen our connections to our own inner resources.

The Master Class or workshop I want to join is sold out. Is there a waitlist?
I signed up for a class but can't make it. Can I be refunded?
But I signed up for a class after the cut-off point for a full refund had passed. Can I still be eligible for a full refund?
No. Please be aware of our cancellation policy upon registration.
I'd like to transfer my registration to someone else. Is this possible?
If you need to cancel your enrollment in an Academy class, please let us know as soon as possible. We can only offer full refunds if you cancel two weeks prior to the start of class. After that, before the start date of class, we can offer a 50% refund. We cannot refund day-of cancellations, and we cannot refund or partially refund tuition once the class has begun.
