Quickies: Writing Flash-y Sex
Flash fiction and flash nonfiction are perfect forms for capturing powerful and provocative tales and truths about sex and intimacy. In this class, we’ll explore entry points into sexy flash (flash-y sex?), including elements of play and dialogue.
Deesha Philyaw’s debut short-story collection, The Secret Lives of Church Ladies, won the the 2021 PEN/Faulkner Award, Story Prize, and Art Seidenbaum Award for First Fiction and was a finalist for the National Book Award for Fiction. She is a Kimbilio Fiction Fellow and will be the 2022-2023 John and Renée Grisham Writer-in-Residence at the University of Mississippi.

A limited number of scholarships will be offered for this Master Class. To apply, please email firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject “Master Class Scholarship Application” 1) a short statement outlining your interest in this class, and how a scholarship would benefit you as a writer or a reader; and 2) a short bio. Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.
If you need to cancel your enrollment in an Academy class, please let us know as soon as possible. We can only offer full refunds if you cancel two weeks prior to the start of class. After that, before the start date of class, we can offer a 50% refund. We cannot refund day-of cancellations, and we cannot refund or partially refund tuition once the class has begun.
