Sound the Asylum: A Door Emerges

Melissa Grey & David Morneau with Robert Kirkbride

About the author

Melissa Grey & David Morneau are composers. Together they have launched a site–specific concert series in a New York loft apartment designed by Giuseppe Zambonini, sonified data about the ocean’s hypoxic dead zones, and transformed insect recordings into organ sounds that accompanied an installation by Angela Grauerholz. Their work has premiered at the Queens Museum, Bargemusic, and elsewhere, and been published by Ugly Duckling Presse and Circumference.

Robert Kirkbride directs studio ‘patafisico, an architectural design and research studio that explores the interplay of memory, identity, and placemaking. A professor at Parsons School of Design and the spokesperson for PreservationWorks, he has been a visiting scholar at the Canadian Centre for Architecture and architect-in-residence at the Bogliasco Foundation.
